We had a fantastic time celebrating International Day at Oakbury yesterday! The students were able to explore cultures from Egypt, Spain, Mexico, and Australia. They boarded a pretend “plane” and learned about the countries they were “visiting” during their “flights”. Upon arrival, they got to see famous landmarks, ‘try’ different cuisines, immerse themselves in the local culture, and take home a postcard as a memory. The best part of the experience was travelling the world with friends!
In Egypt, the children built a pyramid and learned about mummies. In Spain, they discovered bullfighting and tried the flamenco dance. In Mexico, they enjoyed a fun pinata party. Lastly, they had a kangaroo hop race in Australia to end the day.
It was a day filled with laughter and joy, and most importantly, the students were able to learn about different cultures from around the world and appreciate the uniqueness that each culture brings. By recognizing and respecting diversity, they will be able to live in harmony with others.
